Quality not quantity
There are also several good reasons why sex can, in fact, be more satisfying at this time of your life. With children no longer so much of a tie and contraception less of a concern, there is more time for spontaneity and experimentation. Allowing more time for foreplay gives a woman’s body longer to lubricate and become aroused. Introducing new positions will help make sex more fulfilling and enjoyable. As men get older they take longer to achieve orgasm, making it more likely for a couple to reach an orgasm at the same time resulting in a more intimate and satisfying experience for both partners. After the menopause, the ratio of the male sex hormone, testosterone, to oestrogen becomes greater because oestrogen levels fall while testosterone remains the same or, in some cases, increases. For some women, therefore, this relative increase in testosterone during the menopause actually increases their sexual desire.
